Legislative Action Update

AFSCME was in the house April 20 as more than 200 members took time out to participate in our annual Legislative Lobby Day at the State Capitol in Hartford.

The Malloy layoffs and budget cuts were a major part of the discussion, as numerous state legislators encouraged union members to make their voices heard between now and Election Day (Nov. 8).

In addition to the budget fight-back, Council 4's legislative advocates Brian Anderson and Zak Leavy provided a rundown on major initiatives, including a retirement security bill, a penalty on low-wage employers receiving state subsidies, law enforcement protections and more.

Check out our brief video, our photo gallery and take action to contact your legislators before the session ends.
