Jepsen Withdraws SCOTUS Appeal in Rowland Case

Attorney General George Jepsen will withdraw his petition to the Supreme Court challenging an Appellate Court ruling that former Gov. Rowland broke the law when he singled out thousands of state employees for layoffs in 2003.

"We appreciate the Attorney General's decision to withdraw the petition and sit down with us to try to work out a mutually agreeable settlement in the interests of public service workers and the public they serve," said Attorney Daniel E. Livingston, chief negotiator for the state union coalition that includes Council 4. "We are hopeful that a mutually agreeable settlement can be reached to end the matter."
