Honoring Dr. King

Jan. 19, 2015 marks the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.

As AFSCME President Lee Saunders noted, '“We celebrate the memory of Dr. King throughout the year, but the holiday in his honor is a special opportunity for us to rededicate ourselves to the struggle for civil and worker rights."

Dr. King was gunned down April 4, 1968 in Memphis, TN, where he had traveled to continue his efforts to help striking AFSCME sanitation workers.
