The Detroit bankruptcy matters to all of us.
It matters to workers like Clarence Sanders, who has worked for the city for more than 24 years—and took four pay cuts in the last 10 of them. And even lost a home.
It matters to the retirees like Ora Mae Mott, who worked in the city Finance Department for 30 years—and now, at 81, finds her monthly pension of $1,100 per month in jeopardy of being cut.
It matters to all of us who think that the wellbeing of workers and retirees and small business owners should be put before the profits of the corporate elite.
