Sequester Slams Public Housing

Congressman Jim Himes at Bridgeport Housing Authority.

Bridgeport Housing Authority residents will suffer dirtier hallways and sidewalks, rundown bathrooms and significantly slower service response if employees continue to be laid off as a result of the federal sequester.

U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4th) joined Bridgeport Housing Authority tenants, workers and public housing advocates at Harborview Towers to protest the deep damage caused by sequestration.

Four jobs have been eliminated at BHA, and more cuts could be coming due to shortfalls in funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
